Trail maintenance gratitude Spruit

Every time I have had a ride on the Spruit recently, I have felt really grateful about constant little improvements but have not been sure who to say thanks or be grateful to.

A massive thank you to everybody who in the recent past has:

1) Created the new MTB trail at Emmerentia

2) Put the cement pavement under the Tana road bridge

3) Mowed the grass on the approach to Rustenburg bridge

4) Levelled the trail in many places

5) Introduced security guards on bikes along the Spruit

We do not pay anything to ride on the trail so a massive thank you for your efforts and investment!

And also, thanks to everyone who maintains other trails in other places especially with the rains.

Could not agree more, well said - and if there is some sort of Spruit fund I would be happy to contribute

Agreed, do any hubbers know whether there is any contribution mechanism for the Spruit

I am not sure if anyone from Sprocket and Jack is on BikeHub... but I was thinking of printing and laminating these bank details and putting them at their bike shop counter as well as the coffee shop?

Even better, perhaps start a Zapper/SnapScan/Masterpass payment option via QR code?

Another idea is the optional R5 donation for transactions at Sprocket and Jack when you get a coffee or pick up your bike from a service?

What you guys think..

Might just make it more top of mind and visible to everyone who uses the Spruit... often at the right time when they are just about, or have just, had an awesome ride/run on the Spruit?

Kudo's to whoever is making it happen.

Running a club and maintaining trails I can tell you that keeping it clear and building new lines is a seriously expensive exercise.

The idea of adding on an optional charge for people to pay at the local shop is excellent and certainly a good way to get some income.

Howzit guys, we have a zapper and snapscan QR codes at the bike shop and Caf'e. We also have the Bank details for the official crew from Jozi Trails which is making all this happen. It is really exciting and the behind the scenes red-tape that is being taken care of is immense. They are only allowed to do maintenance for now but new trail development and building will be done once all the studies and approval has been signed off.. Watch this space

Thanks Grant. So it seems you are sorted with some App payment options. As a Nedbank employee, I also get a special deal on their version of SnapScan and Zapper, called MasterPass which they have given me permission to apply to jozi trails if you would like, so just let me know if you want to explore that option.

Sorry for hijacking the spruit trail appreciation thread, but didnt want to start a new thread for one comment.

I'm not normally anywhere near the cradle, but 2 weeks ago I got to spend some time over 2 days driving and being driven around the area and noticed the trail that runs next to the road.

Someone has put in lots of work and effort into this building, maintaining and sign posting.

All I want to say is well done to which ever team is doing this, was rather nice to see. Made me want to go home and fetch my bike.
