Dave, how does it work?

Long long ago, when it was just starting out as an event, you just cycled from Windhoek to the coast, now it sounds like a tour.

Cant find my report from 2009

Slowbee, it is still the same route as when you rode it, just a small 30km difference in stage 5 and 6 where you now go through the moon landscape, instead of around it.

It is still 6 stages in 24 hours...

Can your back up team meet you at the various points ?

Do they drive the same route or go round?

For the solos the back-up team goes around to checkpoint (CP) 3 at 175km and meet the rider there. There-after they meet him/her at CP 4 and 5.

The two person teams meet their back-up at CP 1 and then again at CP 3 where the second rider takes over. The back-up team takes a different route to CP 3.

It is only the 4 person teams' cars that ride the same route up to CP 3.

All team cars take a different route than the riders from CP 3 to CP4.

Hi, I am doing the solo for the first time.

How about nutrition at checkpoints 1 and 2 and at the waterpoints? Just water, juices, fruits or gels and bars as well?

Which pressure do you recommend? I am normally driving tubeless, Conti Race King and Cross King in 2,2. Good idea?

Other tipps?

Thank you!

How about nutrition at checkpoints 1 and 2 and at the waterpoints? Just water, juices, fruits or gels and bars as well? Both checkpoint 1 and 2 have the usual snacks and drinks, but number 2 has more choice (if the truck doesn't get lost) and you can stock up on food reasonably well.

Which pressure do you recommend? I weigh 80kg and run my tyres at about 1.8 to 2.0 bar.

I am normally driving tubeless, Conti Race King and Cross King in 2,2. Good idea? That combination will work fine, it's just a gravel road...

Also a bit behind. Started a bit too late and was off the bike for almost a year. I'm in the saddle 5 days a week vs 2-3 days a week on my previous attempt.

We're attempting a full run at it end September and base rest of training from there

I have serious FOMO for missing the Dash, but I have some health issues that needs some time to get sorted properly

Good luck with the training!

Thoughts on stage 1, 3 and 6 on a gravel grinder?

Thinking of converting my Scott Scale 940 into a GG

Shouldn't be an issue, not a lot of corrugations on those stages...

Thanks Sias,

Spoke to some of the guys in the club this morning, at least 2 are planning on doing it on a Diverge, one of which is doing solo.

Now to figure out how to turn my Scale into a GG
