On eagle you'll lose at either end depending on your choice of chainring Sent from my SM-G965F using TapatalkYeah, there is a slightly bigger range, but that's why I say usable range. You get a 3.27 ratio at the top end, and a 0.57 ratio on the bottom end. With Eagle 1x12 - 32t chainring you get 3.2 ratio top end (same as your setup), and a 0.64 ratio at the bottom end. So effectively you lose a bit on the bottom end, but at 0.64 you are already going so slowly that you might keal over - ie: not usable range. And I'm saying that as a 100kg guy riding lots of steep climbs in WC with 1x11 (10-42t casette and 32t cassette) I'm never short of gears. In any case, that small amount of sacrifice in gear range is worth is for the ease of shifting (just easier or harder), no cross chaining, and real estate freed up on the handlebars. Besides, seems like the OP is strong from his road biking past - so this argument is null and void anyway.

I was looking for longer travel to tackle some of the trails on Table Mountain and The Glen... and I also want the comfort!

Very well specced bike for the price. 34mm fork, 120 travel, dropper post. Just some options I saw on their website. Good luck
