So crown got back to me.. nipples are corroded/ glued. They advice replacing all nipples and spokes. It’s Easton ec90 slx. Not worth spending that much. As for the bearings, cartridge bearings and the bearing itself is stuck, like someone sprayed degreaser/ lube. Greased it up and running much better. Poor guy, buyer really ripped him a new one.

Send the seller this thread and give them a chance to make right.

If the seller does not want to play game, then the wheel must turn :) and it would be in the interest of all hubbers to name the seller.

As an aside, what cassette was the guy running on those wheels and how much did he pay ?

Personally the seller should have sorted out the wheels for the buyer as I feel don't mater what you pay for something hard earn cash is hard earn cash. Again it is always about customer satisfaction.

Seller offered partial refund.. I think buyer has accepted the situation and moved on. If anyone out there can get me a quote on replacement 24 spokes and nipples + wheel build it would be much appreciated.

So there’s one black spoke on the wheel that was replaced. After starring at the wheel to think of ways to fix it I noticed that the black spoke looks thinner than all the other spokes. I then fitted the wheel to my bike again, adjusted the calipers closed, spun the wheel and only to find that the hop is on the black spoke! I know believe that repairing the wheel would maybe be 2 - 4 new spokes

If anyone knows of any LBS in Cape Town that stock ec90 Sox spoke and nipple, please let me know.

Thanks

The hub works because we help and look out for each other yet you want assitance without doing your bit by exposing what is clearly a scammer.

I suppose someone will help you and someone will get taken by the seller because you did not have the courage to do your bit.

Edereese not the first time you've had issues by 2nd hand wheels?

I don’t understand your comment. The wheels is not mine, I’m trying to assist a friend. I bought one set from a hubber previously, no issues whatsoever. I did comment on a thread previously stating don’t buy secondhand carbon clinchers after watching a video of how much heat affects carbon clinchers.

The reason I can’t name is because I was not part of there deal. I recommended the buyer name and shame, but being the humble person that he is he believes that everything happens for a reason and and we forgive and move on and I can respect that.

Can we please focus on finding a spoke now

Can we focus on who sold a stuffed wheel, out of round with botched repairs and refused to cancel the deal when it was pointed out that the wheel was not as described.

Can't agree more. ...this a business deal where one party is taking advantage ....this will embolden this person and before you know it he or she is selling fake wheels or cracked frames...you have a duty towards fellow hubbers to name this bad hombre. ...
