i'm facing the greatest dilemma in years...

i have a set of ENVE disc wheels arriving for my road bike tomorrow and I just realized that i (seemingly) don't have the tools to move the disc rotors from one wheelset to the other...

has anyone done this DIY style, i.e. can you break the lock by turning the rotor in the opposite direction?  Please tell me there's a solution, I dont have a bike shop in my town, so that means i won't be able to ride my brand new wheels!!

I think it's the cassette lockring tool that you need. You won't be able to turn the rotor on the hub. Short of putting a screwdriver in there and tapping it to turn the lockring, I'm not sure you're going to come right.

Why risk damaging your wheels and rotors by trying to hack the rotors off? Order the correct tool online it shouldn't take more than a couple of days to get to you then you can safely move the rotors across.

Just

Don't

(please)

(especially not on Enves)

Take it to your LBS and let them do it. Or phone around and find someone who has the tool in stock so you can buy it and DIY.

found the only person in town that owns a cassette tool, so the rotors are safely off...

thanks for pointing out its the cassette tool, i thought it was a special disc rotor tool so wouldn't have thought that far by myself...  Flippa and lehub saved me a 400km round trip!!

Receiving my disks rotors today.  Seems like my old rotors will be removed using the Shimano BB removal tool but the new ones require the cassette tool.  I needed to by the BB removal tool in any way but do have the casette tool.

The lockring that uses the cassette tool is for QR hubs, the one that uses the BB tool is for through axle. Just reuse the lockring that came with the hub, don't fit the new one that came with the rotor.

Thanks.  I suspected that I would be using the old ones but could not see rotors shipping with the BB locking ring.
