Not sure between the 2, but I would assume the Pro version can do more? What phones are you looking at getting?

Pro is for touchscreen PDA type phones, standard is for the non-touchscreen phones.  Mobile Office on the pro version also allows easier creation of new documents (officially standard onlyallows you to edit existing documents) plus a few other minor benefits.  Rather look at the specs of the phone than the OS and what "form factor" (ie the physical shap of the phone).

Ah ok! That would explain why my TYTN2 came with Pro. I can't image the OS being comfortable to operate without a Touchscreen.

You use the joystick/jogwheel much like you can do on some laptops.  Not my favourite either, but then I'm not a big fan of touchscreens.

Make sense, but both phones are exactly the same, except for the OS

It is the HP FA992AA and FB136AA

I guess its going to be Pro then!!

Thanks U2

Naaaah, I'd be lost without the touchscreen.

I must say that in 2-3 weeks of having my tytn I've gotten so used to the touchscreen + stylus combo, as well as the qwerty keyboard that I won't be able to use a normal cellphone again soon. The only thing that sucks is that the GPS software doesn't come with the phone - you need to buy that separately.

I upgraded my Samsung Blackjack from Windows Mobile 5 to 6. Quite a mission but I find 6 way more stable.

so would i make a mistake with pro or classic ?

and is HP any good?

Don't know about how good the HP ones are, but the specs do look good.

I went for the HTC because it looks good and has a qwerty keyboard.

I am not sure how much you are into your gadgets but go for something that is very popular in the public domain. I regret not going for the Nokia N95. There is so much open source, hacked roms, mods etc. available in the public domain. I think I might still get a N95.

My personal belief is that I have no use for a phone with great specs but it has not been embraced by the Internet community.

I also noticed that there are significant software compatibility issues with the various windows mobile smartphone software packages for the different devices. Probably due to the different processors in the devices.

Nokia 95 - one platform, one processor, lots of coders and people not interested in software restrictions . If they make it and I can break it, i will buy it Evil%20Smile

There is a fair amount of stuff available for the HTC phones.  Getting an N95 is limiting if you are bound to a company that uses (almost exclusively) MS technologies - I know you don't have that problem.  The new Samsung I780 also has a few bastardised tweaks on xda-developers.com.
