Planning for our December holiday and we will bring our own MTBs and ride some trails in Western Cape.

I was wondering if there any trail in Paternoster and Tulgbar that we can ride. Please advise whereabout instead of not riding alone if there is specific with safety. We're coming from Gauteng. Looking forward to your feedback.

Do not leave anything unattended in Paternoster .If you leave your bike alone for a second it will be stolen .We were hyper alert at all times and still got robbed .Personally i will never go to Paternoster again .Langebaan is fine .

Oh no, this is so pity and definitely will have to change my booking to Langebaan instead of Paternoster. Thank you for your advice. I do much appreciate it.

This is unfortunately the case. Paternoster plagued by petty crime principally due to a large tik house in the community.

Very sad to hear and I thought it was a beautiful place. I do much appreciate with your feedback and I'll have to change my booking now. Thanks

I was wondering if this is good idea to bring our bikes along on the road trip pass Northern Cape and arrive Western Cape and return. We will stay at Upington, Namaqualand, Paternoster (change to Langebaan), Tulgbar, Kimberley and back home Jo'burg.

Will you do the same and leave your bike at home? Or bring it along? Just asking

um, i don't think you need to change your booking just because of that. Just be cautious and aware of your stuff.

by tulgbar you mean Tulbagh?

There are some trails at LCE (Langebaan Golf Estate) about 20km within the estate itself and some in the WCNP if you don't mind doing a couple of KM's on the tarmac to reach Geelbek and then take the back road to Kraalbaai.

Not sure about the fossil park but that was a 10km loop (know they are trying to work on new trails but not sure when that will be done) bit a a meh one in my books.

There is also a whole lot of district roads between some of the surrounding towns that can be explored.

Depending on what you're looking for and how far your willing to travel there are some other options close by as well.

I wouldn't change my booking. As others have said, don't leave stuff unattended. I had camera and a bag with tablet and a really nice pen stolen when tik koppe broke in. My bike was chained to a pillar in the house so they didn't get that.

There are lots of trails in the Tulbagh/Ceres/Wolseley areas. You can also take a ride via Bainskloof Pass to Wellington where you can ride the Welvanpas and (new, I assume?) Wild Boar trails
