V18 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Same story as OP. Went from XT m8000 to hope tech 3 e4... I now understand what modulation means. Rode klipberg with them. Steep. Loose. Fast. Couldn't believe I didn't listen to Myles for so long.
Duane_Bosch Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 I have TRP Slates and if I could wind back the clock I would have rather bought Cura's. The power from the Cura's is just bonkers. The feel from the slates is great but they do lack power. I've had 3 sets of Hopes and loved them.
droo Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Or more relevant, I want enough real world evidence as an excuse when my better half finds out how much I've spent if I buy the Hopes ! If you want it in writing I can put it on a letterhead for you... As a mechanic, Hope FTW. If you crash and break off an adjuster screw, you'll be able to buy that adjuster screw until the day their factory burns down. Like a Chris King headset you'll take it from bike to bike until you're 90. That said, you can't beat TRP for value. I can't comment on backup though, since they haven't been around long enough for this to need testing. Basically your choice is between short term health of the bike fund and long term durability of the product. I know which way I'd go.
V12man Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Or more relevant, I want enough real world evidence as an excuse when my better half finds out how much I've spent if I buy the Hopes !I would consider trading my Hope E4's for a set of SRAM CODE RSC's. But I think you would be fine running SRAM Guide's - I run them one a couple of bikes - they work well (as do the hope's)

And the V4s are about a grand cheaper for a set.
