11spd crank on 10spd groupset

I would appreciate some inputs please. I need to replace my crank and can't find any 10spd cranks online. I can't afford to go full 11spd now and was wondering if I can run a 11spd crank until I can do the rest.

Not sure if you mean for road or MTB, but I use an 11 speed XT crank with my 10 speed Groupset without issues.

That's my current set up on my road bike. No issues.

I run a Shimano 5800 crank and chainset (11 speed) with 10 speed casette, front and rear derailleur -5700- and chain without any problem

Technical jargon will probably suggest compatibility issues, but I doubt anybody has ever encountered real life issues with cranks being speed specific.

Yeah, no problem. At one stage I was running 9-speed (cassette + derailleur) with 11-speed chainrings on my 10-speed crank. 

 

EDIT: Currently running 10-speed with a 9-speed (rear + front) derailleur with a cassette size outside the recommended range.

 

Never had an issue. Even when I used 10-speed STIs with a 9-speed setup (with some help from a JTek Shiftmate).
