matthieup Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 So after thinking it was coming from my fork, I eventually managed to isolate the noise that has been driving me made. IT is coming from my Fox RE:aktiv shock, when in Climb mode, and a little less when in Trail mode. It is some sort of a taping/knocking noise. I've googled it and it seem to be a common issue with these shocks and in some cases they have been swapped under warranty (overseas). It is on a 2017 Trek Fuel EX8. Does anyone with a similar shock have the same issue here?
Titleist Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Same on my Fuel EX 9.8. It comes and goes though, as if there is play when it’s in lockout as if it’s not completely locked.
Skinnyone Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 You can send it to Omnico (Fox agents) they will be able to replace the Re:Activ valving - there was an upgrade valving kit issued to remedy this, or the Re:Acktiv system can be replaced with standard valving.

Thanks a lot for the news. Do they do that for free?
Skinnyone Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Thanks a lot for the news. Do they do that for free?If the shock is still under warranty then they should, if not then they may charge for a service. Best to discuss it with them tho.
matthieup Posted August 24, 2018 Author Posted August 24, 2018 Thanks, I'll check. The bike is 2 years old, do you know what their warranty is?
Skinnyone Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Thanks, I'll check. The bike is 2 years old, do you know what their warranty is?I think - stand to be corrected - it is one year...possibly 2 year?
BikeisLife Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Thanks, I'll check. The bike is 2 years old, do you know what their warranty is? Have you contacted Omnico yet? Mine has also developed this knocking noise. Was going to send it to my LBS to get the fork and shock serviced next week.
DieselnDust Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Thanks, I'll check. The bike is 2 years old, do you know what their warranty is?Frame 5 yearsParts including suspension is1 year for OEM2 years if you bought it aftermarket. Since it’s a proprietary shock that came with the bike it’s likely 1 year warranty
matthieup Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Spoke to Omnico.apparently it does happen but it is a cheap fix potentially under warranty. I'm still looking for the proof of purchase
