ChrisF Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I want to use Strava to combine my Polar and Garmin ride data .... History :- I bought the Polar M400 when I started cycling. At the time I had no need for strava, and was happy to track my progress on the Polar Flow site.- The Polar became part of my commute kit, which is used from the office to home and back to the office. Thus this kit is in office when I go for a weekend ride on the MTB ...- Thus I bought a Garmin for the MTB. At this point I was happy to track the MTB progress on the Garmin site .... Yesterday we did the Hermanus trails, and this was recorded on the Garmin. I would love to compare this data with my first ride of this trail, which was recorded on the Polar .... For one brief moment I thought this may be a good time to get a Strava account, sync both Polar and Garmin to Strava, and thus be able to get a complete picture of my progress over the last 2 years.... And then my electronic wheels burped ... and I am struggling to re-bead it ... Easy enough to set up both Polar and Garmin to sync NEW data to Strava. Seems it is PAIN to syn "old" data to Strava. I am looking for a way in which to sync ALL rides from Garmin and Polar to Strava .... Garmin - I found a few links .... except some of the links dont work, and others work up to the point where you need to sign over your bitcoin collection before it will start syncing ..... Polar .... seems it is easier to hug a Polar bear than finding a way to sync old Polar data to Strava .... O-well .... ONE - hopefully somebody has an answer\solution .... that does not involved exporting each event separately, then importing said event again individually ... two years down the line this is hardly a solution ... TWO - just hopefully others may learn from this in time to set up their data management earlier ....
Ozzie NL Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Not the worlds most gifted when it comes to these things but you should be able to download the old rides as gpx files from Polar and def Garmin sites. Then save those on laptop and import into Strava manually. Tried that yet?

Crux is, can you download the .tcx files from Garmin and Polar in batches, or is it a one-by-one affair? I have no experience with either of them so I can't help you there.

IF I can get this going it will work for Garmin, does not seem to cater for Polar. HOPE somebody has a link for something like this that works - for both Garmin and Polar (even if it is different links)

NC_lurker Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I seem to remember looking into this issue last year, wanted to export old polar data into Strava. The only solution I found entailed manually dealing with individual sessions, so I just accepted defeat..
