Chris NewbyFraser Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 I need a handlebar mount for my medium size smart phone (to use as an event gps). Has anybody had experience with a mojnt that is good or any that have failed so I can avoid them?
TyronLab Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 I actually used an old OtterBox cover and S4 Mini I had from a previous contract. The OtterBox cover was a two-part cover (Hard plastic outer shell, soft rubber insert). Drilled four holes in the plastic outer shell, cable-tied it to my stem and hey-preseto, DIY removable GPS computer. I've ridden a few trails with it and it's pretty robust, hasn't shifted around yet. Might be a nice and cheap solution for you too.

Chris NewbyFraser Posted October 12, 2018 Author Posted October 12, 2018 Sportsmans warehouse, the gadget shop, takealot - all offer the bike mount at R499 but none seem to offer the Universal Kit which is the component that sticks to the back of the phone, and which then clips into the mounting. Without this bit pou're buggered. PC Link offer the whole kit at over R1400 = amazing how a bit of sticky rubber can cost over a grand!
