S Works Epic 2015 onward

Just how good or bad is the previous generation S Works Epic, I am considering moving on from my hard tail.

 

Have read that they are a bit "twitchy" on some of the more technical stuff.

I had the S-Works 2015 and upgraded to the 2019 model......2015 ride so much beter with the Fox Rear shock than the new rockshox

Thanks, you say the 2015 rides better that the 2019?

Is the change in geometry noticeable, if so is it for the better or worse.

I enjoy technical single track but am not really into the super rough stuff.

It's longer and slacker, which means that it is more stable at speed, more confidence inspiring in the tech stuff and not as twitchy as previous iterations, but it's still an XC race bike so don't think it's gonna handle like a trail bike. According to the reviews, it's every bit as fast on the way up as the previous versions, and in some cases even faster depending on your legs. 

 

IOW - it's better. The difference in shock would be down to improvements in the BRAIN system, and remember suspension setup would have a marked effect on how a bike would ride.

To be honest, the rear shock was better for me, but overall can't find any difference......I'm not a pro so can't really say, but for me the S-Works 2015 was a lekker bike!

I have a 2016 and love it. 
 

As mentioned above, it's a XC race bike, quick handling and great for climbing - it's not a trail bike...
