Hi all a friend of mine is visiting Mazeppa Bay after attending to some other commitments. His bike will be there waiting for him when he gets there but after his stay he has to bring it back down with him to Cape town.

He will be flying from East London. So the question is what is the deal do the charge and what do the charge .and any precautions he should  Take .

Which airline ?

As a rule, pack it in as small a cardboard box as the bike will fit (remove wheels, pedals and swing handlebars out of the stem), ensure that box is the only luggage he has and that it weighs less than 20kg. Check it in as his allowed luggage.

Has worked for me on all domestic carriers I have flown.

Just make sure he insures it and that the value is correct. As Eddy said most domestic flights don't have a problem as long as it's boxed and under 20kg.
