Cannondale 2019 si3.
Scott 2019 RC 900 Pro.

1. Both same price.
2. Scott has 3 phase lockout on the handle bar (full lockout, inberteeen, no lockout). Cannondale only has on and off.
3. Cannondale has carbon rims. Scott doesn't (dt Swiss x1700 spline cl).
4. Cannondale can fit 2 water bottles on main frame Scott can't.
5. Scott has xtr rear derailleur (top of the range) and xt all other components. Cannondale has xo rear derailleur and gx for the rest.
6. Scott has carbon fibre seat post and handle bars. Cannondale has aluminium for both.
7. Scott has a rock shock Sid.
8. Cannondale lifetime guarantee for first owner. Scott 5 years only.
9. I'm not sure how often either need to be serviced.

Cant comment on the cannondale other than I would love one. But I do own a 900. Many of the differences you mention would not be noticeable to me with the exception of 2:

1. Bottle cages - I believe you can get a dual bottle cage to fit depending on your frane size. For me its no issue as I gooi my spare bottle in my small backback. By the time i am done with the first I have a nice fresh cold one I can pull out of the backpack

2. I use my 3 function lockout all the time while riding. Steep climbs full lock out, normal riding half/half and downhill in open mode. Best feature on the Scott, wont cope without it.

The rest of the items I wouldnt bother with

My take is it depends on how you want to use the bike and then how easy is it to get it serviced.

For me the cannondale would tick the boxes in that the distributor is in Cape Town so parts and servicing is relatively easy.

I like the way the Lefty Ocho feels.

the cannondale feels a bit more playful and rewards a rider who likes to pick his lines.

The Scott twinloc isn't something I like very much. To get the best Traction it needs to be in climb mode which limits the travel. The cannondale doesn't need this feature..

in descend mode the Scott feels more like a trail bike and rewards a rider with less confidence in that it wants to plough through obstacles whereas the cannondale enables and wants you to pick a more playful way around the obstacle.

So if you want a bike to race on and go as fast as you can and have some fun picking your lines then the cannondale is the one.

If you want a more forgiving ride with the option of a little more comfort and you like wearing a backpack during the occasional marathon then the Scott is probably your better bet.

There is very little to chose between the two options and what I've highlighted are just a few subtleties I picked up when test riding those two bikes.

Both of these are good, I prefee the Scott. It strikes a better balance for my region (Stellies and surrounds). It can also roll with a longer travel fork, if you outgrow 100mm. (The Dale too, but they look odd without a lefty).

Small thing: I never use aluminium posts in my carbon frames. Close to the coast there is a risk of seatpost galvanic corrosion.

Well if the epic was 1 to go buy the scott must be much better than the cannondale???? It would be a hard choice for me as I like both.

I like the look of the new Lefty and my main issue with them they fixed on the latest one. Now you can fit any stem???????? carbon wheels make a much bigger difference than seatpost or bar and upgrading the seatpost and bar is much cheaper than wheels.

On the scott the lockout is great for racing I think the overall look is better to me as well.

It would be tight but think I will go with the cannondale.

I have just always wanted a lefty. The new si can take others forks now like a 120mm. Another thing Cannondale has done is reduce the offset of the rear wheel and there is a new quick way to remove the front wheel. I am no expert thats what the dealer told me

Put the Lefty and the wheels on the Scott

The Lefty and front wheel can fit on the Scott but the rear wheel is Ai which means the rim is dished 6mm to the non drive side to deliver a symmetrical rear wheel. Also its 142x12 not boost.

The Lefty Ocho does have a quick release mechanism for the brake caliper. But more importantly it feels to be better damped and controlled than its competitors. It works very well with the rear end to deliver a very balanced feeling bike.

In short, if you want a Lefty get the cannondale.

If you want travel control and that Ninoniss then the Scott
