This looks like such an awesome product, I fear for the exorbitant markup these will attract if a South African store does sell it. . .

yeah well they are already damn expensive, but considering how much we spend on our bikes and other cr@p, only makes sense to purchase something that may help save us from the dreaded accidents.

Fair point, have you thought of importing them yourself?

I also see some dodgy review about build quality, not sure though as some people say they are built well

I have been a fan since their early days and have bought a few of the lights over the years. The ikon has great build quality. I have used one for the last three years for commuting and road riding constantly and battery life, weather resistance etc is great.

I bought two sets (front and back) of the ace lights during the funding offer and received them late last year. I wondered about the durability of the mount setup when I got them as they feel a bit flimsy, but having used them for a few months, have had zero issues with them, so am really happy. I notice a huge difference in behaviour of cars approaching from behind with the changing pattern of the lights, which is comforting on narrow Irish country roads.

I don’t use the app features (crash detection and theft detection) as I find them quite problematic, but my garmin and my Apple Watch both have crash detection, so I am covered there anyway.

As with all good accessories, they cost, but I have to say I am a very happy customer.

PS - I bumped into the guy who owns the company recently at the airport and got chatting to him. Really switched on lad.

Wait before you do that, I bought a Ryder light from Solomons two weekends ago, it set me back R156.00 (I think) and it looks similar to that one and does the same thing. Let me see if I can get a link quickly. .. . ... . ... . .. . .. . ..

Found it:

It's crazy bright and I'm actually thinking of going back to get me another one. It charges with USB and has the normal functions in both clear and red. It even strobes red and white. Makes you look like a "pil koppie" returning from a rave but hey, it works well

No clue, I've not yet used it  :whistling:. I've not been on the bike since I bought it. I've been doing some indoor stuff via Sufferfest. I do however recall the sales person at Solomons mentioning that it will last in the region of 8 hours. Not too sure if that's the case but I bought it because it's crazy bright, like in meteor shower bright  :w00t:. I do reckon that I will get some angry mtbers on the trails if I fit it to my helmet .
