If someone is going out for a practice lap would you mind strapping a gopro on and sharing it here. I will also not get out there before raceday.

Bit of a leap describing this writer as a local Pinner. The oke is from JHB and couldn't pin the tail on a donkey, even without a blindfold.

Looking forward to seeing the big turnout from round 1 hit round 2. Any idea of pre-entry numbers yet?

???? ok pinner when he is in the mood.

No idea about entries yet. Won’t be same turnout of round 1 as that included quite a number of guys from out of town.

.....but if each one of us bring along one visitor, and that visitor brings along one visitor, we'll have a full house again.....pretty much the same as those pyramid scheme models

Sadly though the false perceptions remain about this wonderful discipline and imo, guys and gals are missing out on a great format of "racing", with huge spin offs for your fitness, and great time away with family and friends.

Anyway, check you next week in the old-toppie chute !

Seems like the route is slightly different to the last 2 years. That long section in the forest appears to be different.

yeah it does indeed as well as the section to the bottom right in pic, will see if I can take the Friday off & go practice the course.

The more I look at that map the more it looks like a new track. The big boulder rock drop isn't part of this map and seems like we may even go in the opposite direction through that section. Practice on Friday might be required.

I have entered. I have never ridden the course so will be a surprise on Saturday. Unless i can get my lazy ass out of bed early enough to do the practice from 06:30 to 07:30. But the appeal of the XCO was the time i started.  ^_^

Managed to sneak in a quick afternoon visit to Rhebokskloof, and man if the heat is going to be similar to tomorrow, then the late starters are going to take a beating....I recall the previous provincial xco was also a belter, as someone already mentioned here, so hopefully none of the same tomorrow please !!

The course is quite different and if I am not mistaken, many of the sections are now done in revers, with a view nice add-ons.  (Thanks @Milkey for playing tour guide for me and taking me around).

I rate this course a lot less technical, but also a lot more technical. In terms of jumps and gaps, there ain't any, so if that is what you would see as technical, you ain't got nothing to worry about. BUT, contrary to what many believe, technical is NOT just jumps, and herein lies your challenge for tomorrow :  a number of off-camber sections, and the whole route basically has a top layer of minute marbles, making even the basic of corners very tricky under speed. I suspect more folk will have front wheel wash-outs vs coming short on the few technical rocks gardens, and drop-off or two.

All in all, for me at least, very good of the organisers (WP MTB Commission) to try and change things a bit this time around instead of repeating the course of the previous 2 - 3 events.  Well done to them, course is excellently marked (as is always the case for their events), the registration process was flawless en VERY quick, and the race village in the center of the course makes for good viewing and vibe.

Not sure on numbers, but expect a smaller turn-out for this event vs the first SA Cup (for obvious reasons), and also the start of the Epic on Sun morning.  However, I am very excited to line up again tomorrow and enjoy the day with like minded folk, young and old....talking of young, flip it remains so awesome to see those kiddos out there having fun - the track was "littered" with them at practice this afternoon ! #kidsonbikes

See you boys and girls there tomorrow
