New Landy new life Posted February 26, 2019 Share Hi All Was looking at a few options in the Garmin range for Triathlon. Was looking at the Garmin fenix 5 that retails at R6,999 with a wrist based HRM The Fore-runner seems more triathlon specific and there are 2 options: 1. Normal with only writs based HRM for R 7,2892. Tri bundle with Chest HRM for swimming and the standard Chest HRM/run sensor for R 9,789 Anyone have any other suggestions or makes they have used for Triathlon ? Pulse Posted February 26, 2019 Share My choise would be the 935. Its exactly the same as the Fenix5, but with a plastic housing (obviously). I would go for the Tri bundle. The wrist unit won’t work great with swimming, and is not as accurate as a strap in general.
Wil6 Posted February 26, 2019 Share I would go for the Forerunner 935. The tri bundle is not so important. Normal heart rate monitor will do, unless you are really a data freak and need to know your heart rate after your swim. Edit: As mentioned, the wrist based heart rate is a hit and miss. Not reliable at all Edited February 26, 2019 by Wil6 Pulse

I got mine for less than R1,500 through Garmin when replacing my 910. Not sure what those others offer that a 925 doesn't
Iron Posted February 26, 2019 Share 935 , for sure , as said same brain just in a lighter body and this makes it a very much more easy/user friendly unit on the wrist , i changed from a 920 to a 935 about a year back and its a power unit . good luck New Landy new life
