It's real - as featured in the August Issue of MBACtion ( don't ask - they send it digitally about 2 months into the future ... ). The surprising thing is that THE MARKETING MACHINE ( Spez ) have been able to keep it out of the media up until now .... only MBACtion have shown details on the new bikes.

Sexy indeed. Was anticipating this with Merida dropping the Mission out of their range in favour of the new Ninety Six. Claiming better pedalling platform, handling, stiffness and weight savings.

I just wish Spez would get over themselves and start using Fox/Rock Shox or even the revamped and much more reliable Manitou. It's gonna take them a while to catch up to the big guns in the industry.

I see that they have moved the shock to under the top tube and run a remote reservoir for the rebound damping. The seat stays are now symetrical instead of the chain/seatstays having an offset shock mount.

It looks like they are following the Scott spark designs.

Still the best marathon bike available I am sure!

Crow, I feel that they are ahead of fox re: the rear brain shock. They had some hassles, but those are now sorted. I have 2 bikes, one Carbon and one ally and never had a shock issue. I love they way they work and feel when setup real hard.

That's the thing! When it works it works. I rode a 2008 SJ and it was all over the place. A friend of mine has a 2008 Epic...same thing. Had the shock repaired twice, then finally replaced by one that seems worse!

But then again, another friend rides an FSR Carbon SJ and loves the bike to bits. No hassles.

I heard Sauser will be riding the new bike on Sunday!

Crow, One of the theories is that the shocks come packed flat and that the seals dry out. When you fit the shock you need to stroke it properly. This makes sense as I worked as a damper engineer.

If you dont, the seals are damaged rather soon after you strat riding and the shock "blows".

I have not heard of any problems for the last few months with the exception of during the Epic, but that is often people riding older unserviced and un-maintained equipment.

I will be over in the Rockies in 6 weeks and will check to see if I can see one of these.

Can't wait for it to be released, my Epic is starting to look a bit outdated.

Not sure I like the Specialized cranks which looks like they stole from Campag...

wow thats kind of arrogant.

just because you come across one bike that has had a problem or a 100kg+ person breaks one that means they are bad?
