DT Swiss x1600 freehub binding

I have a DT Swiss wheel with X1600 hub

It works with pawl system

I just serviced it and changed bearings

If the wheel is off the bike the free hub works.

When locked onto the bike with skewer it then binds and is basically a fixie

I have checked assembly against schematic

 

When inserted it seems it slightly over to drive side (talking mm)

 

All ideas will be welcomed

No shim that I can see. There are two washers. One on each side of the springs to keep them off the bearings.

Then pawls in the middle

Most likely a missing or worn spacer between the freehub and hub bearings.

 

EDIT: If it's the pawl and ratchet one. If it's the star ratchet hub, the freehub seal isn't properly seated.

I have the two spacers in that sandwiches springs and the pawls

 

Best i can find on the net

Is someone had same issue

Stripped cleaned and reseated bearings but not as deep

Ok so it's star ratchet one

Where is free hub seal?

Outside one that skewer goes through

Or the one that sits in the main hub body after lockring

IF it is the star ratchet system

The blue line is pointed at the seal.

The red one to the spacer. Without this it will bind

The green line to the inner bearing of the freehub. Note that there is a washer between the bearing and the body (inner side) This bearing must be seated FLUSH

The purple line shows a spacer inside the freehub.

Sounds like green line spacer as per above post.  The spacer between the right hand wheel bearing and the thread ring (labelled 2 and 3 in the above) also causes problems if not correctly fitted.  Missing spacers would allow the spring to push the bearing seal onto the balls and bind.

I have also found that if I seat the outside freehub bearing too deep, spacer purple pushes onto the balls of the bearings in a way that it does not spin freely. You must still be able to manipulate the spacer from side to side after seating the outside bearing.
