Stall_Gear Posted June 18, 2019 Share I am looking for options on a 1x ring to fit my Shimano 105 5800 (11sp) cranks - either 38t or 40t. I dont want to change cranks as I already have a 4iiii power meter running on them. Currently using a std ring, but wanting a Narrow Wide ring. There are options available overseas (Wolftooth etc), but looking local first... Any suggestions / approx price?

Not all 5800 cranksets are the same. Standard 53/39 will be 130, compact 110. 110 gives you the option of a 38, I don't think 130 does. There are many retailers selling raceface/wolftooth etc. I am not sure is CSixx make CX rings. There were quite a few options in the classifieds not so long ago. I picked up a NW wolftooth 40 from BikeMob a while back and I think Naas at Evo Bikes has too.
Stall_Gear Posted June 18, 2019 Share Thanks The 5800 cranks are 4 bolt assymetric 110BCD no matter the gearing - its the 4 bolt that is the issue with the new Shimano cranks. You might have to order it, but you can definitely get one through a local shop.

I have a 1x11 road bike (48x11/42) - narrow/wide is definitely the way to go in the absence of a front derailleur. Absolute Black makes a nice one, and they tend to ship quickly as it fits in a DHL document folder - cheapest option is generally if you set the currency to GBP. Otherwise all worked effortlessly. PeterF Posted June 18, 2019 Share I ordered one directly from Absolute Black, it was in my hands in less than a week. EddieV
