the new updated google maps now shows you your speed and any permanent speed camera's, ......much of a muchness between the two...

You can download Waze on your phone, it shows your speed and speed limit in one of the corners if you go over it. I don't know how accurate it is, but for where I am driving it has always indicated the correct speed.

Waze is a gps app much like google maps, the benefit is that you can see speed cams accidents etc. on the road (people need to report it though).

I went and checked my vehicle tracking log (Thanks Discovery). The tracking device that is fitted sends info every 2 minutes under normal operations and it pinged twice long that stretch of road in both directions (once going to work and once coming home). The info sent shows date and time, speed (as well as speed limit), location and a few other things. Speed limit along that stretch of road is shown as 60kph.

Just spare a thougth that the Discovery info is not always 100%  I used to get informed on a specific highway in Pretoria that I was speeding quite a bit (as in driving 120 in a 60 zone).  However the highway is a 120 zone but on a bridge crossing a normal suburb road the speed limit is 60.  So got warming points daily on that stretch.

Does anybody know if there is a website that can show you what the speed limit is on a specific road?

Stop and ask the speed cop sitting behind the bush.

I must look out for this .... been wanting to check the calibration of my car speedo for a while now.

I did notice the speed cameras on the app last week.
