Hm. Haven't run into anything quite like that YET with my three bikes although I have found the one seatpost clamp to be unique to Trek and made of unobtainium.... So yes....

aaaa, forgot about that.

wanted to replace the quick release with an alan key post-clamp.

Found one at Mark's workshop .... not even Trek could help me

so if you are looking for a "mint condition, never fallen, almost new" Trek quick release clamp you are welcome to come pick it up.

Thanks Chris - mucg appreciated indeed but I'm okay on this one. My problem was that the original cap screw was too short and only engaged the thread about two turns in and so stripped. I eventually just got a longer SS cap screw from JKM Nut & Bolt and that solved the problem.

OTOH, I'm thinking have a spare isn't a bad idea... Can I pay postage or something? You're in the WC and I'm in Gauteng.

Having owned both ....

I would rather buy another TITAN.

And if I am forced into a corner .... I would buy Spez before looking at another Trek.  :cursing:

I have ridden a few Treks and never had any issues with them or the dealers.

Need I say more .....

I was "less than impressed" when the rear wheel bearing collapsed. Much less so when I heard that the unique Trek design means there is no tool to extract the collapsed outer bearing race from the beautifully counter-sunk design .... but dont worry, this is a common problem, so we do have a new hub to sell you ....

No, you cant replace the rear shock ..... if you dont like the shock, you buy the same spec from Trek only .... as their unique design excludes other options ....

I loved the handling of the bike ! But maintaining it soon became it rail pain ....

So exactly like Spez than hey????
