Cycle Junkie Posted October 25, 2006 Share HP is lately 'n death wish, ek probeer nie eers om met my kar daar te ry nie, nevermind met my fiets.
DRIVETRAIN Posted October 25, 2006 Share I was on it Sunday morning ..... noticed the recklessness & bad behaviour of drivers....guess I will not be using it anylonger either... It's a shame because it's a road that links us cyclists to some of the popular routes... "DT"
linnega Posted October 25, 2006 Share And you should remember that England has one of the worst records in terms of cycle safety in the civilised world, so the UK should be the minimum standard we aspire to.
scotty Posted October 25, 2006 Share MDon cyclists from all areas are affected. Kliprivier/Swartkoppies/Lido in the South has had more than its share of incidents.scotty2006-10-25 04:03:
Dr. Seuss Posted October 25, 2006 Share when did they do this? rode there on sunday in the shoulder no problems. do agree that you should not be on this road later than 07:30 duringweek-ends & dont even get close to it ANYTIME during the week! linnega Posted October 25, 2006 Share If its a double lane that means that you should have more space. Cyclists in the left lane and other vehicles can pass on the right.
ewep Posted October 25, 2006 Share linnega, I've only been on HP once or twice, and even if you ride IN the yellow line, your lucky if only 1 car goes for you!
DRIVETRAIN Posted October 25, 2006 Share There is a double lane both ways to accommodate large traffic volumes---however the concern is the Emergency lane that cyclists use..that too is broad for a decent size group to use--- However it's the motorists that make use of the emergency lane to overtake / speed and do whatever they please....If one looks at the developments taking place on that stretch of road & the chaos it's causing it's not hard to see that the Grader's/trucks ride mostly in the emergency lane... I agree that we have quite a few other roads we can make use of instead of H/P..Ontdekkers for me can lead you out to many of these roads for short or long rides....Truth be told I keep away from H/P except the last piece of tar from 14th avenue going up the hill to Ontdekkers...
