Did you manage to complete the race yesterday?

Yes I did, but it wasn't so enjoable as my phone was knicked from the toilets when I had forgotten it there when I went to get changed. So my whole ride was on everything I had just lost. Worst being that all the pictures I had of my departed son was on that phone that I can never get back again.

Hi, need advice with regards to selling of a mates Scott bicycle.

Been in storage for the last 10 years.

Cleaning out storage unit.

What would be a reasonable price to ask ?

Edenglen, Johannesburg.

Sorry to say but that bike is seriously out of date. I tried to sell something similar to that a year ago and didn't even get a low-ball offer on it, nada.

It's best hope would be that someone wants to use it on an Indoor Trainer.

I will be surprised if you get any interested replies on it, even below R1000.

Would the owner consider donating it to a worthy charity? There are a couple of them that makes sure these bikes are forwarded to the most disadvantaged in our society.

Agreed, might have somebody who wants to make a hipster SS but other than that, donate it to somebody in need. You would only be giving away R500 or so.

As said in the previous post, donating it would be a better option. Your mate won't be losing much.

If you are willing to donate, my son-in-law walks about 12km to work everyday. (Bottom rung earnings) I can't help him out, as I use mine for my own transport.

Anyway, no harm in asking. You can DM me if you wish.

Regards.

I see you went with your Ghost? Glad it held up and you managed to do the event

Yeah, I had no choice, as everything was pressed for time, and I prayed it would hold up. So did a lot of "Light Thoughts" riding.

Man I still need to lose like 50Kg, but keep the leg power.

So what is the plan with the bike you got from Swany? Are you still going to do the build or just keep riding the Ghost?

I'm going to do the build, but have to check pricing etc for the BB to fit frame and my pedals, and HS bearings to fit frame and my forks. Plus a Rear brake for Bake brake to fit what I have.

Money is tight, so have to plan carefully.

Anbother Hubber promised me components, but I think that went south.

Is the bike Swany gave you unrideable or can you just ride that in the meantime instead of risking serious injuries by continuing to ride the cracked Ghost?

Excuse my previous question, I was confused, for some reason I thought Swany gave you a fully functional Bicycle.

I am sure we can get some bike parts to you, whatever is needed to get this build done. Hubbers have allot of spare parts lying in their garage and they are a seriously generous lot for a worthy cause.

We don't want you to get hurt on that cracked frame.

Please let me know what you need for the rear brake?

I've got a 140-160mm post mount adapter with bolts that you can have, if that's what you needing.

Ok, my brake bolts on from the top, and the Silverback frame has them from the side.

Silverback bolts are about 50mm apart. My brake fittings are about 73mm apart.
