Crank Arm Issue

I have a 27.5 Scott Spark 710 with a Shimano XT FC-M8000-B2, Hollowtech 2 cranck (175mm) en 24/34 tooth chainring. The problem I experience is that I quite often hit an obstacle on the ground when paddling. I have also fell very hard hitting a exposed root on a downstroke on a route I have done very very often.

Secondly I my speed on a decent is limited as I run out of a gear to go faster. My idea is to replace my current crack arms and chainrings with 165mm long crank arms and 26/36 chainrings. I am 1.75m tall and the shorter crackarms will suit me better. What is your comment on this?

Suspension setup and technique is what you need to work on, will sort out most of your strike issues.

If you spinning out at speed, put a larger chainring on. My old 2x setup had a 38T on the front and 3x used 42T
