That Man Sagan is really stepping up the plate with regards the challenge laid by Sam.

He is totally showing his true capabilities. And of course the great team.

Points points points need them need as many as possible..great team work..

Bugger, Bora are hammering Sam :(

Think a lot of casual cycling fans are only starting to realise now how hard it is to actually win this green jersey.

Won't be long until CCC come help with the pace making.. it will be beneficial to them too.

It’s certainly a lot more difficult or easy depending on the makeup of your team. Poor Sam really does seem like a man on his own whereas Bora is a much more solid team who are able to bring the hurt and support their contender.

DQS have one of the best squads for stages like today.. BUT he needs to be able to get over these sort of climbs..they can only help so much.

I dont know why he himself is working so hard in the chase..maybe they aren't as strong as usual.. tomorrow another stage that he will have to survive and manage his efforts to survive the time cut...he is fighting hard though

It's amazing how everyone wants better rider concussion protocol, says changes need to be made etc but when someone is naughty in a sprint and endangers himself and others it's fine because, it's always been done.....   :whistling:

It kind of seems that your statement is aimed at me, or partly aimed at me. So I will take a moment and clarify my position with regards to sprinting in particular.

I want there to be sprints and I very definitively want them to be as safe as is possible given the speeds these elite athletes are capable of. If a rider does what Sagan did when he headbutted/shoulder charged WvA then it shouldn't come as a surprise that he got stripped of his points. I fully agree with the race jury on their decision as it is the correct one!!!!!!!! That said I still very much hold the position that sprint safety isn't a rider only issue but one that the race organisers and the UCI also has responsibility for as well which I felt was lacking in the Tour of Poland incident, to give an example where both parties (A rider in this case Groenewegen - of whom I am a fan & the ToP organisers) failed. The bottom line for me is that I do not want the magic of an Caleb Ewan weaving his way through the peloton during a sprint and still getting the W the way he did during the first week. It's similar to watching Greg Minnaar, Loic Bruni and the like scrubbing and whipping their way down a downhill course at a WC event.

I hope today ends in a sprint and I hope it's a memorable one for all the right reasons!

Reincarnation of Tommy Voeckler, just less of the tongue hanging out. What a live wire, that Julien. His back stretch moves are always peculiar.

About the concussion screening, I can't see a feasible system like, say rugby, where a sub' is possible while the fallen rider is screened. Remember that Tom Skujins incident at, I think, the Tour of Utah a few seasons ago. It was scare as he was slingering across the road, clearly concussed and then remounted his fiets zig-zagging back onto the course.

If you haven't been concussed, it is one terrible experience and there is not much that can be done in terms of medical treatment. It is serious stuff.

About Bardet. Tough one for him (these guys train so hard and sacrifice so much) and the local fans as another French hope is out of contention.  Hope he recovers quickly and fully.

Indeed

I had to laugh after Thursday's stage (when he dropped himself again) he said he thought there was something wrong with his bike but it turned out it was his legs [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Yes, they can only help to a point and there’s no doubt he seems to be struggling.

And as I type it seems he’s cracked.

:(

Not looking good at all. Unless he finds some climbing legs soon he is going to struggle to get to Paris. Edited by Gen
