FirstV8 Posted January 13, 2020 Share I feel when buying new wheels you should decide on which hubs , rims ad spokes you want in your wheel set . Then find in your local area the best wheel builder and get them to build up the set . That way you were in complete control of what you want and if after a few hundred km the spokes need re tensioning he is there for you as part of the deal . I know today you are spoilt for choice but if you do your research you will come up with the right choice .
EddieV Posted January 13, 2020 Share “Wheelset upgrade” had been a catch 22 for me as well. I would love a pair of carbon wheels but spending large on a rim-brake carbon wheelset when carbon braking is suspect in wet weather does not sit well. Thus I have decided to first upgrade my frame to disc – and then at the same time get myself a good carbon wheelset to compliment the frame.
