I have appealed for help on the Hub many times for donations of used clothing, cycling equipment etc for the 'development schools programme' that  Midge and I run and have always been overwhelmed with the assistance we get. Every single item gets used and re-used and re-used...... really is rewarding from our side to see these happy faces.

Even though I like the idea of a 'fund' it is just too open for abuse, and as other postings have implied, not everyone's cup of tea.

All you hubbers rock, and even Jhb hubbers have contributed to our fund, and we are in the process of getting a frame and clothing to CT in the next week. Thanks WS x . Thanks also for the cash donation (you know who you are) x

To all involved with helping those in need. Thank you.

Wolfie....... Didn't Samma and a whole group of hubber?s do a ride for a worthy cause last year? ....how? bout this..Couldn't all the hubber's in the different regions do something similar and then that region chooses the cause? We could have a jo'burg hubber ride then a CT hubber ride followed by Durb's and Bloem. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

This way we don't have a small group of people managing all the funds and getting fed up with criticism... believe me there will be criticism.

I think the responses over the last few days have been a clear indication that everyone is happier with ad hoc contributions to various initiatives as they arise.

Was just a thought

Not everyone - but fair enough, as always the "majority" rules.

Maybe next year.

Sorry Widget, you are right, the 'majority' would have been the more appropriate term

Sorrry, again, I know I hijacked your thread, but thanks for giving the inspiration to get our beer fund off the ground.

No worries bud

The thread round that worthy initiative has given me a good few chuckles

Wolfie.. the calender is not a bad idea at all..... it's still possible as it's a one off, one cause, majority votes for the cause....not too complicated at all...
