Front Derailleur - Please help

Hi Guys,

 

So while cleaning my road bike, I noticed a bolt missing on my FD.

 

Can anyone perhaps give me clarity if this is in fact a bolt or if it's a permanent strut that broke off.

That looks like a rivet that is missing. check the opposite side of the hole.

 

You will be able to drill it out the rivet that is currently in the other side and put a bolt through of course.

But for now you do not really need to change the FD on and IDT so don't let that stop you.

As what TDFN has said but by looking at the corrosion around the whole it does look like it has been like that for quite some time without bothering you too much

Thanks for the advice @TDFN and @RobertWhitehead. Only noticed it when it stopped going into the lower chainring. I think it's confirmed that it was infact a rivot that broke off and not a bolt that got out.

 

Guess I'll just get a new FD in due time

You can fix that with bloudraad or a pin or a bolt until you're allowed to leave the house again. Just don't knock the rivet out completely while you're doing it - either knock it out with a pin punch and then follow the punch back through with the bolt, or use the bolt as a punch to chase the pin out. If that spring unwinds it's not going back in again.
