Hi, i recently acquired a Quarq Legacy PM and was working fine up until two weeks ago whereby it does not seem to connect to my garmin Edge and Fenix. I have tried to update the firmware with Qalvin and it connects and then bombs out before i can select "update firmware".

I have tried the various "hacks"

1. Hard reset

2. prying back the pins

3. changing of batteries

not sure what other hacks there are. So the light comes on meaning the PM is active, it just doesnt seem to connect.

Any help will be appreciated before i book it in at cape cycles

What is a Quarq Legacy PM?

Qalvin Legacy is an app that allows updates to pre 2016 Quarq power meters. Which of the following is yours?

Use the legacy software on desktop and see if you can connect.

If it connects via desktop, see if you can get any readings, zero offset or even firmware upgrade.

When you say it's not connected, do you mean it is not giving you any power readings?

I suspect however that it does connect with your garmins but you are not getting any power readings, because one or more of the strain gauges have broken.  In which case you will have to send it to Cape Cycles Systems via your LBS for them to test it.

I will give you fair warning, that if one or more of the strain gauges has gone, then it will not be fixable and CCS will offer to fit a new AXS/DZero to your existing cranks, which is not cheap.

The New PM's (8 bolt mount) are not compatible with the crank the Riken came with (3bolt mount).

ms6395 are the frst owner or is it 2nd hand? If 2nd hand and its out of warranty then its a whole new PM and crank. Or youcan buy a Power2Max NG Eco that will fit the chainrings and cranks arms of the Riken. Cheaper than a new Quarq unless they offer an out of warranty upgrade under goodwill.

Oh the other thing I've just thought about is the headunits themselves.

Have you updated the software on the garmin headunits recently?

When I update to the v9.5.0 my Quarq suddenly calibrated at over 1200. Got some weird power readings initially on that ride before it started to settle.

Connected the PM up to Qalvin Legacy and connected but wouldn't calibrate.  Connected to the Stages Dash to run a calibration and it returned a number >1200 <1500 as well. Ten days later the PM calibration has drifted back down to the mid 200's and it connects to Qalvin and diagnostics returns no anomalies and calibration (zero reset) works fine returning similar numbers to the Garmin and Stages.

This is the 2nd time this has happened and both occasions relate back to a Garmin Headunit software update.

I haven't tried this but maybe delete the PM from the sensor list, and try reconnecting to see if that works. I have found  Qalvin Legacy to be a little sensitive to internet upload speed. Possibly due to running on an old server (might have absolutely nothing to do with the problem you're having)

Maybe the new App will connect and update?

I remember that at some stage the Qalvin app stopped being supported and they went over to the SRAM app.

Not 100% sure thought but worth a shot yes?

The Legacy PM's do not connect to the new AXS app. I tried. Stuck with Qalvin Legacy.

All 8 mount mount quuarq PM's are compatible with the AXS app through software update. This was not rolled out to legacy PM's

I have tried using the legacy software for Windows, doesn't connect any longer to it. As of last night the light doesn't seem to go on either of the PM.

Both my Fenix and edge had updated software
