Hi Folks,

 

I was hoping you can help, i need to replace the below lever that is on top of the shock, perhaps know what it is actually called and where I could find one?

im in Cape Town

 

Kids claim they didnt mash it up :whistling: , then it mustv been the dog  :mellow:

 

Google skills has failed me in this search

 

On A Trek X caliber 5, the standard shock that came with the bike

Also that looks like a coil fork and most likely the seal is blown.

 

Take it to Stoke suspension works and see what they can do for you!

Is a coil fork yes.

 

I own the bike for about 5 months and never serviced it yet.

 

Maybe best i take it for one.

 

For knowledge base, what is that lever actually called?

Did the dog try to open it? With the wrong tool?

 

That bit is called the preload adjuster.

 No idea what went down here.

 

I dont have much bicycle knowledge so i wouldn't dare try to remove this.

Guess its universe way of telling me to service the shocks

Do you maybe store the bike upside down? Looks like the seal is leaking.

no, not upside but on a forward slant yes

Looks more like mauled plastic from someone trying to open it will a monkey wrench. 

Closest thing i have in my home to a monkey wrench is a pliers, so that could of been their tool of choice :mellow:
