Groupset swap question

I have two road bikes (don't ask!). One Ultegra Di2 rim brake and one a disc brake bike.

 

Besides the brake calipers (obvs), will I (LBS) be able to swop them around? I want the disc brake bike to have the Di2.

Are your brake calipers hydraulic or cable? If your brakes are hydraulic then you need hydraulic specific DI2 levers which are costly.

 

If your disc brake calipers are cable actuated then it can be done.

The hydraulic Di2 group set is a dream. If you do go this way you do find these levers available from time to time in the classifieds.

 

I have also found that bleeding Di2 calipers is easily done at home (Much easier than some of the older hydraulics).

You can use the Ultegra Di2 with cable brakes on a disc bike. You just need mechanical calipers. TRP make mechanically activated hydraulic calipers.

Yep that is correct - TRP HYRD calipers. I had them on my CX bike and tandem. Work well, have an integrated master cylinder in the calipers.

So here is my dilemma. Tell me what you think/what you would do.

 

Current bike is Ultegra Di2 rim brake.

Bike I just bought has DA FD and RD (mechanical), Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes, FSA hollow carbon SL-K Light cranks.

 

Initial thought, as you know by now, was to get the Di2 onto the new bike. But now I'm thinking to just leave as is? What would you do? Di2 is so sweet..

Your situation unfortunately doesn't allow for a straight swap.

You'd need to get di2 hydraulic shifters, or cable disc calipers as an alternative.

Have a look on Chainreaction for shifters if there's nothing here on the Hub - they had some well priced options.

My experience found me riding my disc bike more.

And if that's the case for you too, make that riding experience the best you can I say.
