The Raleigh sounds a bit over priced considering it's age and that it is a 26er.

High end Raleighs were made by Probike and sold in SA (this is one of them). Unfortunately, Scott bought Probike in 2011 and Raleigh UK withdrew the rights for Probike to use the Raleigh name. Hence the birth of Axis and the disappearance of high end Raleighs.

Only supermarket type Raleighs are available now.

The Raleigh is at a minimum 10 years old. I would take the cheaper Momsen as long as the size is right.

It will cost you about R2k to have the Momsen sprayed to a colour you like. :)

The Raleigh .... uhmmm .... NO

PS ... we bought a Makro bike for our son a few years ago. It actually gave us good service. I then bought "decent" bike from Makro to use as a commuter .... the frame had so much flex I took it back the next day

You must be a pretty newby yourself.Raleigh bikes locally were a highly respectable brand. The RCs and RMs are still good solid bikes and highly recommended as starter bikes.
