Incidently HP make printers....they have to be the worst Notebooks you could ever lay your cash out for but I get your drift.

But their RPN calculators are to die for...*

*if you're a dedicated geek.**

**you're not a dedicated geek if you have to ask what RPN stands for...

Is this to do with the Polish horse porn comment I made on Minty's thread?

My advice. If you want a HRM buy Polar..... that is what they specialise in... Why buy a HRM form somebody who sells GPS's?????? Bad choice I would say.

'cos they're better? Wink

I replaced my Polar 725 with my Edge 305 as soon as I was given one
that worked properly (a year and a half ago). The one thing I have never
had an issue with is the HRM functionality and I really cannot see any
difference between the Edge as a HRM and the Polar (except of course
for the obvious bits like format/size and battery life). They work exactly the
same way and give exactly the same numbers.

The Polar is more convenient in that it is a watch' date=' but the Edge is more
configurable and is also a GPS. I like the GPS functionality, so prefer the
Edge. I also prefer the cycling computer format of the Edge (display size,
ability to display more data, backlighting, ...) so for me it's the better
cycling computer. It's cr@p to run with, though - the Polar is much better
there...

HRM wise: no difference.

So you like half things.... you ride half a bike (not a tandem) you have half a GPS, you have half a HRM..... get real!!!!!!!!!

Never had the need to Use a Reverse Polish Notation Calculator

Bean counters and the like will not understand the benefits, they are made with people who can think laterally!!!!!!!

Nope - I speak from experience.

I ride "half" bikes and a "whole" one (yep I am the proud owner of a tandem).

I also use a "whole" cycling computer - the Edge. The Polar is "half" a solution

in your terms!

I have used both and prefer the Edge. The advantages of the Polar are

a decent format for running, good battery life - and I almost forgot: temperature.

That is a dumb @ss thing: why don't Garmin provide temperature? It's used

by the unit for corrections, so why not allow the user to use it?

... bluetooth is bluetooth .... duh ...

Not really.  There are different versions.  1.2 and 2.0 are pretty common across gadgets these days and may not necessarily be compatible, particularly if you don't have software to pair the two gadgets.

Your phone is Bluetooth 2.0 but the Nuvi 710 may well be 1.2 and not compatible.  Admittedly though, Garmin could provide better service by actually providing a reason for any compatibility issues so that you can discover if your phone is compatible despite not being listed.

Once you had a Dell laptop' date=' you'll never buy an HP again.

?

[/quote'] Had Dell and now on Mac. The Mac is awesome once you complete the transition.

On the Garmin, no problems at all. It is awesome.

What I would like to see is companies putting some conviction behind their products. Such as a certain Notebook manufacturer offers a 3 year international warranty and within the first year should any hardware component fail they will repair the notebook and refund you the purchase price.......hows that for believing in the stuff you sell!!!

Who is this manufacturer??
