Hi everyone!

I bought myself a Polar CS200 HRM and installed it on my Mountain bike. I am having a few issues where the sensor doesnt always find the pickup. I was riding yesterday and on 2 occasions it didnt pick up that I was moving again after stopping and one time it didnt pick up my speed at all.

I have a feeling the sensor was designed for a road bike. Is there anything I can do to tweak it a bit so it will work on my MTB?

Thanks!

The head unit and the sensor on the for have got to be a max. of 50cm from each other. For an MtB, that means that the sensor has to be quite high up on the fork. That also means that it has to be angled in quite a bit towards the spokes so that it still picks up the magnet.

So the sensor doesnt have to face forward? I can angle it towards the spokes and towards the magnet? I will give it a try tonight!

Thanks!

I have found that if it's mounted on the stem it also doesn't pick up all the time, so the best place to mount it is on the handlebar + everything that splat said Smile

... and I'll move the unit to the handlebars then... It is on the stem at the moment!  ConfusedConfused

On my road bike I mount it on the stem and it works, but it only works on my MTB if it's on the handlebars, perhaps it has something to do with the width of the stem?!

anyway, let us know if it works!

Got my CS400 on my stem and it works fine now that the distance is less than 50cm.

Thanks for the advice guys... I moved the sensor up on the fork and angled it towards the spokes and the magnet. I also moved the computer to the handlebars from the stem, and it picks up very quickly now and it seems to be working the way it should!

Just for those interested ... not sure about the CS range of sensors, but the S720 and S625 speed sensors have a jumper on the PC board inside the unit. By default it is set to the shorter range (less power consumption on battery), but moving the jumper to the adjacent 2 pins increases the range ... for cases where you need to mount it on your chain-stay, so that you still get a reading while spinning on your indoor trainer.

I have S725X, and am very interested to know what you are talking about re the jumpers- how do you move the jumpers- what 2 pins????- I get onto my indoor trainer 2x a week, and have never measured speed on my Polar- but if I can mount on the chain stay- problem solved!
