Risking bad handling?

Are you an unsponsored rider competing at the front end?

Are you being serious or just looking for idle chatter before the luxury of off-topic conversations are removed?

Run soft rubber on a hot tarmac in summer for extended periods and you convert the soft rubber to hard rubber. That is going to affect the grip that will affect handling. This is very obvious after you pick yourself up from the bush

Good to know. I've been riding to the trails and back lately. Only 7 kms though and not that hot, yet. I rode through some building sand and possibly cement yesterday. That will harden your tires :P Scrubbed and rinsed most of it off just in case.

I have some 26" tires I bought a few years ago and never got around to using. I think they are still ok, but afaik they also harden over time and can eventually expire / perish. They still have that factory coating on them, which I think helps.

From Schwalbe's site: https://www.schwalbetires.com/tech_info/tire_wear (has some interesting info)

You'd think that they would tell you to replace it so they can sell you another tire ;)

More interesting is the question two down that asks why do tyres wear prematurely.

the wear question relates to commuting and road bicycle tyres. They specifically exclude mtb tyres. So I'm not what point you are trying to make. Please clarify
