Wayne Potgieter Posted December 20, 2020 Share Hi. I need to find a way to store 4 bikes in the garage in a better way. At the moment, I am leaving them on my Thule bike rack, but i really want to pack the bike rack away and have a better way to store the bikes. All mountain bikes. I don't mind wall mounted or floor racks. As I am still in a rental, my preference is for a storage solution of some kind that does not involve drilling or screwing into walls etc. There are so many options that its difficult to separate the good from the bad. patches Posted December 20, 2020 Share Hi WayneAs you know I am a fan of the Steadyrack systems, which you can get from Mitre10, Evocycles (or Kiwivelo, Takapuna). But they will require some drilling etc, so here's some alternatives that may work... https://www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/20749/topeak-two-up-tuneup-bike-stand or if you have the space... https://www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/349215/topeak-rally-bike-stand of very simplistic and way more budget friendly than the above... https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/OTSTSN0AB/title/ontrack-5-bike-storage-stand https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/T7BSSN0AB/title/4-slot-bike-floor-stand Would this rack system be a temporary measure until you move into your new place? patches Posted December 21, 2020 Share I wonder if this combo would work? hmmm... I havene;t had the best luck with Command strips. I did recently get some of the extra strong Scotch double sided tape and they may work. https://www.bunnings.co.nz/scotch-25mm-x-1-5m-extremely-strong-double-sided-mounting-tape_p0323823 It'll probably peel the paint off the walls too, if one can't get a bare surface to stick it to. So that may be tricky.

Charlie600 Posted December 21, 2020 Share Have a look at the Topeak Dual Touch setup - works like an absolute charm whilst allowing the vehicle to remain in the garage and avoid the ice and snow this time of year.

Pieter-za Posted December 21, 2020 Share I made (long enough) brackets which hook over the roof's tie beam. (No ceiling) PS : I also use the Levitate bracket mentioned above, works well. (The secure one though.) Edited December 21, 2020 by Pieter-za MrJacques and Nestus
Nestus Posted December 21, 2020 Share I bought this and it's the best bike rack ever. Not sure if something like this is available abroad. https://www.takealot.com/bike-rack-wall-mounted-levitate/PLID41472923
MrJacques Posted December 21, 2020 Share I wonder if this combo would work? My concern with those are if they will still hold on if the tire goes flat?

Hairy Posted December 21, 2020 Share single or double garage?I used to hang 4 x bikes off those metal J-Bend hooks from the central beam of the garage between the two cars .... mounted them towards the front in order to allow the car door to open. Cheap and cheerfull.
Hairy Posted December 21, 2020 Share Or approach the landlord and let him/her know your intentions of mounting to a wall ... and if the rack is cheap enough you can leave it for the next tenant.
