Bundu Ric Posted January 7, 2021 Share Yoh, so much good value in this post, will definitely take this all to heart and make sure we do this the right way. I like the chocolate part. The biggest and most important thing that I've learned from 26 years of riding. The wife/girlfriend dictates the speed, distance, & technicality of the ride. Take chocolate on the rideTake her for a saddle fittingBuy her the best cycling shorts you can afford Flat pedalsZero pressure to do thingsStart on the easiest and flattest possible routesShe will have her first crashBe supportive in every little thing she doesCongratulate every small achievementDon't show her Redbull RampageWatch insteadOnce she is comfortable with the basic gravel rides you can book her a skills course. It doesn't matter how much you know, you won't be a good teacher and she won't listen to you. A coach is a stranger and to an extent an authority figure. She is more likely to listen. ChrisF Posted January 7, 2021 Share If you get any of the above wrong retreat to a safe distance and throw said chocolate at her Bwhahaha .... Too true ..... DR is absolutely spot on with the gear AND the coach. The coach makes a world of difference to her confidence levels. And stick to those flat rides in the beginning ....
