Why don't you throw in whether Campag v. Shimano, carbon v. Titanium, Religion and a bit Hunter v'George questions?  That would REALLY liven things up!

Anyway, back to the question:  I would get the best dual suspension bike you can buy, but if you have less than R20k, go for a soft tail.

Because that would have been pointless..........obvioisly Shimano, Titanium for the SR71, there is only one Jehovah, and well I dont recall DG winning a stage at the Tour. I thought a dual suspension was a softail! I would be pushing my marriage if I went beyond 8/10K.

Now what type of advice is that ? What is a decent DS by the way ? You can buy a decent DS for way under 20k . I am not to sure about the new Raleigh DS models but I think they went and changed it to a multi-link design . In that case rather look at something else that offers you a single pivot design or if you can get your hands on a decent SP RDS frame . Most probably will be difficult to find as their owners don't wanna part with such an awesome bike .

Why worry about all that cr@p? Ride a hardtail and you don't have to care

what the frikkin' pivot type is like. Or else forget the whole damn bike and

join the runners (as long as you keep away from Bedfordview)...

It is advice of a very sweeping type!  Not really the truth (or quite as well defined), but I find it to be kind of a rough guide.  Very difficult to find a decent DS below 20k.  Too heavy and cheap components.  Have you got any decent ones at this price?

hey if you just take the time to look around you can find a decent ds.

i'm a student so i have to make my money really work for me otherwise i won't have enough for bear six times a week. (detox on the last day of the week).

i picked up a scott genius mc30 (3 years old) for R5500. full shimano xt, tubless conversion etc, hardly used, and i'm loving it. and this isn't a one off thing, i see deals like this come through every month or two.

from all reputable sources of info the raleighs are reliable dependable value for money bikes - everyone i know who has ever had a prob has had no issues getting things sorted under warranty so it is a good option. but it would all depend on your budget and the type of mtb riding you want to do.
