This is hotting up to be quite a spicey part of racing this year. Not just going for the top step of the podium, lower teams are going to be chasing 4th and 5th and even 10ths at grand tours. It looks like a reason JJvR was signed up for Lotto was his uci points gained as a privateer at SA(1st) and African(2nd) champs (although thiese might not be able to be transferred - grey area)

here's the deal

This is quite cool, a bit like the end of season English Premier League battle to avoid relegation where teams come out swinging, taking down the "big giants" of the league. A bit disappointing to see that teams will still throw away the points to chase the glory of the stage win as noted in last weeks Criterium Dauphine, I guess they did not need to the points. Also teams in the relegation zone were not fighting for the stage wins or maximum points, not making the break, etc. In this weeks post I see the Molano from UAE got docked 100 points & fined for his punches he threw in Stage 6, others lost 25 points for littering in addition to the usual fines.

IPT are basically toast, and won't get automatic invites either

Lotto soudal could maybe overhaul Arkea, but they have work to do.

very cool interactive picture showing which riders have contributed.

There is a LOT at stake. could well see some big focus at normally obscure races like langkawi and japan as they are last.
