Hey guys is spending approx R270 on new shimano spd pedals for my first mtb a good idea? Or should I save and get better? I'm planning on getting the cheap Olympic mtb shoes to go with. Am I making the wrong decision by going 'cheap' per say? Thanks!

No, go for it. You will only want to upgrade IF you find them do doing their job or you break them. You can try othre types another time.

Agree with what Mampara says. Good, robust and strong.

The best enry level on the market. I still have a pair of Olympic shoes. Running on XT SPD Pedals. but they are basically the same as the SPD 540/520. Just the weight.
