KK, you were getting me seriously worried. I was just about to paint your face and tatoo a huge Bok and a 95 on your chest and send you to Saffa patriot school.

Just by the way, we also won the Rugby World Cup in 2007 and the African Nations Cup in 1996.

Very cool to see how many SA flags there are on the Tour route.

I would like to get the real story (worried that our press have misquoted him) where Robbie Hunter does not value the Olympics much. Poor form if that is the real story.

mr brother in the uk tells me the commentators there are under the impression that there is only one african in the race - Robbie.

froome is considered british' date=' as is barloworld.

when someone emailed them to tell them that there are in fact three africans, even though froome is on a british license, and barloworld is uk registered but sa sponsored they said that its a load of ****. They say froome is british thru and thru, and RH is barloworlds only contact to africa or SA
[/quote']

Barloworld are definitely not British they are at least 50% Italian!!!

Froome is just as British as Mark Rusedski, Owen Hargreaves and Kevin Bloody Pietersen.  They are happy to have them, but as soon as they go head to head with one of their own they are not so British to them anymore!

Dutch view on Froome:

"Hoewel hij dat sinds dat jaar met een Brits paspoort rijdt, werd hij in juli wel beschouwd als de eerste Keniaanse deelnemer ooit aan de Tour de France.""

I understood that Froome was Kenyan, not South African, and races on a British Licence. Maybe his nationality has also changed to British? In any event, he never was a South African.

Nobody said he was.  African was the claim.

From Wikipedia:

Chris Froome (born 20 May 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya) is a professional road racing cyclist who rides for UCI Professional Continental team Barloworld. Born in Kenya, Froome moved with his family to South Africa as a teenager, and although he began his career registered with the Kenyan cycling federation, he now has British citizenship, on the basis of his grandparents' country of birth[1], and since spring 2008 has ridden under a British licence. Having started in mountain biking, he started road racing in South Africa, specialising as a climber. He turned professional in 2007 with the South African Team Konica Minolta, and was introduced to Team Barloworld by Robbie Hunter, joining them for the 2008 season, and was named in their team[2] for the 2008 Tour de France.

I think it's there's a guy from Bacen Fassa (okay, that country does not exist but there is one that sounds almost the same) that does the time board on the back of the motorbike.
