It mostly depend on you axle width (end cap to end cap), in your case either std (142mm) or maybe boost (148mm).

What is the offset on your current 32T ring and can you back pedal without the chain coming off in the biggest cog at the back?

If yes, stick to the same offset, if no increase the offset with the 3mm.  alternatively follow these guidelines.

135 & 142 axle spacing - ZERO offset

148 (boost) - 3mm offset

6mm offset is for super boost, I'm pretty sure you don't have that on your Scott.

You need to swap things around

135QR and 142 Thru axle usually require a 6mm offset chainring for meet chainline of 49mm requirement

boost drivetrains on 148mm thru axle usually require 3mm offset chain ring to achieve 52mm chainline

157mm thru axle usually requires zero offset chain ring to achieve 55mm chainline.

cannondale Ai with PF 30 -83mm bb on hollowgram cranks and 148mm rear hub use zero offset chainring to achieve 55mm chainline

with SRAM cranks it uses 3mm offset chainring with 148 hub

If an older 2017-2020 Ai drivetrain with 142TA hun then 6mm offset chainring

Shimano cranks for 55mm chainline and associated chain ring are required if using the XT M8125 or XTR M9125

Where would we measure the 49,52 or 55mm chain line?

That’s a bit challenging with some bikes but it’s generally from the centreline of the down tube to the centreline of the chainring.  Not all bike as symmetrical in the lower part of the down or seat tubes and in the case of the Cannondale Ai and Pyga Stage/Mobu the drivetrains are offset 6mm and 5mm to the right respectively.

easiest way with most bikes is centre of the bb shell to the centre line of the chainring assuming the bb shell is actually  symmetrical about the centreline of the bike.

Even easier  than that is to simply read the manual
