Advice on Selling a Bike Via a Bike Shop

Hiya and Happy FriYay…

Stuck in the licence Q so time on hands to ask random questions for feedback…

So I have upgraded and want to sell my favorite purple bike…

She is on Gumtree and the Hub but I am not finding the time to vet and meet (the genuine ie non scammers) potential buyers.

Who has sold through their LBS? My FnBS (Favourite Non Biks Shop) doesn’t sell bikes….

Advice, Modus Operandi Local to Cape Town Northern Subs gets first prize for recommendations all appreciated 😊

TIA

I have done a trade in at CycloSport, Kuilsriver.

Obviously I got slightly less than trying to sell it myself.

But I was buying a new bike there, with a decent discount, so the net pay-in was okay.

Would be interesting to see how they deal with a "sell-only" situation ....

I have done this in the past(sell only). Told the shop what pay out I want and left it to them what they sell it for.
sold for 25k got my 20k as agreed.

Done it at Geco Cycles Brackenfell. Put an add on Bikehub and Gumtree, direct buyer to view the bike at LBS and they can also answer any additional questions from the buyer. In my case the bike was originally bought and serviced by Geco, so they new the history of the bike. The buyer then contacted me, and we negotiate a price. Once agreed and funds cleared I informed LBS to release the bike. No additional fee to LBS, they bank on the buyer to become a return customer.
