Peruzza bike rack reworrk

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and girls

Been a while since I did a build project. And seems I have the opportunity to post one again.

I recently was gifted a Peruzza 4 bike rack. It is in need of some attension and a 4 bike is a tad bit long due to the rack having to clear my rear mounted spare wheel on my ecosport.

Hence the idea to cut it and turn it into a 2 bike carrier. Seems like a perfect project seeing that cycling will be on the back burner for a while with baby no2 about to arrive.

Plan to strip the rack, cut it down to 2 bikes, re powdercoat it and reassemble.

Will post updates as I go along.

Could you.. and this is taking your project a little further, but cut it in such a way that the left over two can be used as a garage rack as well..? 🤔

It is a bolt off job.

Should be very easy to use the two as racks in the garage.

The tricky part of this project is moving the upright for the mounting arms, with minimal weakening of the frame.

Does look like a nice project.

Im sure its possible.

Allready use the levitate racks in the garage.

I plan to make it so that i can bolt in the extra 2 racks if and should i ever need to carry more bikes

Dissasembly complete.

Next steps are to make the cuts, drill new holes and off to the powdercoaters.
