Hi everyone, been a looooong time since I've posted, just very excited after buying a new bike last week. Upgraded 2015 Gaint Anthem 27.5 1 that I bought in August 2015, to a 2021 model Anthem 29 1, exactly 10 years later, also, going to be 40 this year, so I think I might me having a little bit of a mid-life crisis.

I wanted to find out though, has Giant stopped manufacturing the Anthem in Aluminium? It seems to me like from 2022 Anthem's were only manufactured using Carbon... if this is the case it really sucks, as the Carbon models start at around R80k, whereas the Alu models, depending on which spec, use to start at around the 35-40k mark, which made it available to a much broader market.

Correct -- Anthem now targeted at racing snakes or recreational riders willing to pay a lot for a light bike. I recall at the time of the 2022 release that they said carbon only.

Mentioned here:

"Whereas the Anthem has dabbled in all three wheelsizes in the past, the new model is strictly a 29er. It’s also only available in carbon fibre only too — there will be no alloy bikes or pumped-up SX models coming down the pipeline. You’ll have to look toward the new Trance 29 for rowdier short travel trail riding.

Indeed Giant has narrowed the Anthem’s focus as a purebred race bike — one that lives for intervals, hunting down podiums and picking off KOMs & QOMs."

Yeah, pretty sad about this, 8/10 Anthem's that I see on the trails are the Aluminium versions, its a pretty silly decision they made IMO. I suppose if you don't have the budget then the Trance and Stance are still there as options.

To be honest I was keen on a Trance over the Anthem, but finding a Small Dual Suss 29er in any brand is like looking for a needle in haystack, eventually got a pretty good deal on the Anthem so I decided to go for it.
