Any bike is only as good as it's wheels.

Expect me to say otherwise? 🤣🤣

Regardless of what bike you go for, make sure you invest in strong wheels.
Wheels that come stock standard on bikes are made for the average 80kg guy who is a casual rider.

Something like Stan's Flow EX3 rims, laced to a proper set of hubs, like Hope Pro5, with double butted spokes and brass nipples are what you need, and will last you longer than your bike.

Find a decent 2nd hand bike for R25k and spend R15k on wheels.
There is nothing worse than having a bad riding experience because of equipment failure.

Trek Powerfly e-bike going for R39 900 now.

Trek has a strong marketing campaign at the moment.

I sent a link to this Powerfly add to my buddy.  He wants another in their range.

Buddy tried to get one of their advertised bikes earlier this week ...... authorised dealer in Paarl replied that Trek has no more stock of that bike (THAT DAY's add),

"We do have stock, the bikes we have we however bought prior to the special, so we cant sell them at that price"

So much for national specials and fancy add campaigns ....

My buddy is now waiting for TREK SA's response to the dealers email .....

Yes, googling it yesterday showed R39 900 at biket -- suddenly it's gone up by R10k today!

At Gearchange the 2022 model marked down to R50k is sold out, but it's still showing the 2023 model at R42k in Large only:

At what point do TREK (advertisers) realise that these no-stock adds just upset prospective clients ?
