Gravel bike or Mountain bike for this event? Did it ons a MTB 2023 and considering do it on a gravel bike 2025 any suggestions?

I've done it on a hardtail and full suss.

and without a doubt, your body will be very thankfull for the comfort provided by full suss especially the last 80km if the road is it it's usual condition

2023 winner was on a gravel bike, 2024 winner on a mtb

I think it very much comes down to personal preference, but it certainly doable on a gravel bike if that is something you are considering

A gravel bike is doable for sure especially since every year I've done it the descent of Rooiberg has got smoother BUT ....

I will be there on my 100 mm travel dual suss XC bike and not my gravel bike.
