Anybody out there have or know of an entry for sale for the Trailseeker Banhoek 40km Half Marathon, acoustic bike. Wasn't sure I'd be fit enough, when I finally felt better went to test my legs on Tuesday and then all entries sold out :(

I identify as an e-bike rider. Also I see they get to start an hour earlier…pedal assistance and cooler temps 🤪

2023 Trailseeker had the e-bikes start about 5 minutes before the Junior racers.  With the Senior racers starting some time later.

We were about 10km into the route when the lead Juniors caught us.  I was about mid-pack of the ebikers at that time.  On the last few km the routes merged, and 2 or 3 senior riders lost a few seconds on the single tracks.

By 2024 Trailseeker had completely split the ebikers from the rest, starting VERY early.  With the next groups going on a different route.  Never had any analogue bikes catch us.

They welcome the ebikers, and put up a damn good route, despite the short distance.  And they really try to ensure that the ebikers dont influence the race results.

Worth noting .... at least 30% of the ebikers in the Trailseeker series are RACERS !!!  2023 I was fit after Trans Augrabies and also Vines and Views the week before Trailseeker.  I was pushed into the red immediately and DROPPED by that lead bunch in no time at all.

It was more of a dig at the start times and me wanting to start at 7am rather than 8, Trailseeker sent out  a communication that they were doing earlier start times, seems to be the case for the marathon, but not the half. And it looks to be a hot day again. Hence me wanting to identify as an e-biker riding my analog.

Also does anyone know for sure that all entries are sold out and no late entries on race day? Who’s got the inside line?

Jip. Got that 👍

Just interesting to see how different events deals with ebikes.

More so, this event has the raciest ebikers I have ever seen .... just the type crowd that might entice a few of the @MORNE  type riders to try out something different.

Inside line .... 2023 I used their contact function on their website, quickly got a response.... +27 60 747 8286

Can the marathon really be only 1500m ascent? Can't imagine that at banhoek

The first half is more flat/false flat and then second half kicks up and the last climb is long and steep.. Lots of awesome single track to reward your climbing efforts though
